Students participating in the program have the opportunity to take part in extended learning opportunities in their local community. Our students become deeply invested in where they live through key site visits and conversations with community leaders. These extended learning opportunities are directly correlated to Atlantic Impact’s service approach of using experiential learning to boost academic attainment and long term success.

Last year, students in Detroit travel to Historic Fort Wayne, one of the city’s most treasured sites. Students were able to explore the fort, ask questions about it’s history and origins, watch a World War II reenactment, and feel a sense of pride and appreciation for this city treasure.
